Crisis Situations

Unexpected events, such as a hospitalization or the illness or death of a caregiver, often create crisis situations. Here are some suggestions to help manage these difficult circumstances.

Once initial solutions are in place, you can evaluate long-term needs and options.

  • Hospital discharge: You or someone close to you falls or has a stroke, an illness or other health event and is hospitalized. Only too soon the hospital nurse or social worker starts talking about discharge and suddenly, arrangements must be made.
  • Loss of primary caregiver: Your primary caregiver falls or has a stroke, illness or other health event and is hospitalized, or dies.
